17-year old dies in car crash, underage drinking party may be involved; parents search for answers

The parents who lost their son in a car crash early Sunday morning are now searching for answers saying their son was at a party on Bee Creek Road shortly before the car crash on Hwy 71 West. Now, they are hoping those who were at the party can help them piece together what happened that night that led to death of 17-year-old Caden Nieneker. Continue reading

How effective is your state at combating drunken driving? MADD shares its ratings in a new report.

Texas gets a 2.5 ranking in MADD’s 1 to 5 survey. Mississippi and Maryland ranks among the best states when it comes to enacting laws against drunken driving. MADD’s criteria include using sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols; immediately suspending licenses; penalizing drivers who refuse to submit to a breath test; and passing laws that impose additional penalties on drunk drivers who had a child in the car with them at the time.
