A 58-year-old man is dead after he crashed his 18-wheeler on Interstate 35 in San Marcos early this morning. The crash was reported around 1:24 a.m. at the Hays and Comal County line.  The Texas Department of Public Safety says Samuel Bears of Fort Worth was driving southbound on the freeway when he became distracted while holding a cigarette lighter. Police say Bears tried to avoid hitting a vehicle in front of him but ended up slamming into a concrete median barrier and flipping his truck.

Bears died at the scene.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says 15-year-old Michael Mince had just left the gas station at the corner of Farm to Market 2001 and State Highway 21 when he was hit by the truck as he was walking westbound on FM 2001. Police say the truck that hit the teenager was a Dodge Pickup but the driver did not stay at the scene.   Authorities are now searching for the person who hit the teenager.  Mince was a sophomore at Lehman High School.

The preliminary investigation shows that a black 2013 Cadillac was traveling northbound in the 1300 block of South Capital of Texas Highway. A female pedestrian was crossing from east to west and was struck by the Cadillac. She was also hit by a blue 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche and possibly a third vehicle. The pedestrian died at the scene. There are no sidewalks or crosswalks in the area.

The preliminary investigation shows a white 2006 Toyota Prius was traveling west on Little Texas Lane, turning southbound onto South Congress Avenue. A pedestrian, Curtis Thomas Grace, was in a crosswalk with a walk signal and was struck by the Prius as it made a left turn.  Grace was transported to South Austin Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The preliminary investigation shows a blue 1999 Toyota Camry was travelling east on W. Ben White Blvd. when it left the road for unknown reasons and struck a concrete pillar. The driver was pronounced deceased on scene. Impairment is suspected and toxicology is pending to determine if it was a factor in this incident.

The preliminary investigation shows a gray 2004 BMW 325Ci was travelling east on W. SH 71 when it drove off the right side of the roadway, striking a tree along the passenger’s side.  The driver and one passenger fled the scene of the crash. Another passenger was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver later returned to the scene and charges are currently pending. Additionally, toxicology is pending to determine if intoxication was a factor in this incident.

Bastrop County Traffic Fatality – Pedestrian vs. Car (Failed to Stop)

The crash happened at 6:36 p.m. near Ott Road, about seven miles north of Rosanky. Three vehicles were involved in the crash.  A Dodge Ram pickup truck heading southbound moved into the northbound lane, hitting a Dodge Dakota pickup truck on its left side. The Dakota then skidded into a ditch. The Ram kept going and hit another truck, a Chevrolet Silverado, in a head-on collision in the southbound lane.  The driver of the Dodge Ram, Nicolas Hernandez Estrada, 31, from Smithville, died at the scene.

MANOR, Texas (KXAN) — Police are searching for the driver who hit and killed a woman in Manor, Sunday morning.  Travis County Sheriff’s deputies and Austin-Travis County EMS were called to Ed Acklin Road, about a mile east of East Metropolitan Park, at around 8:30 a.m.  According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a woman was walking westbound on the road when she was struck by an unknown vehicle.  The woman, identified as 83-year-old Lucina Jaramillo, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation shows a black 2010 Ford Ranger was eastbound in the 3300 block of Manor Road. A pedestrian was crossing mid-block from north to south, which is not an authorized or safe area for pedestrians to cross a roadway. The driver of the Ford Ranger was merging into the turn lane to make a left turn onto Anchor Lane and never saw the pedestrian until striking him.  The pedestrian was transported to the University Medical Center at Brackenridge, where he died from his injuries.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A crash on State Highway 71 near Spicewood resulted in the death of a Lake Travis High School senior and his mother, Monday morning. The Travis County Sheriff’s Office says the crash at around 8 a.m. involved two passenger vehicles and a semi-truck.  Santiago Vega, 17, and his mother Cynthia Vega, 46, were identified by Lake Travis High School as the victims in the crash.  The Department of Public Safety says the 29-year-old driver of a Subaru was driving westbound on SH 71 at a high rate of speed and being “reckless” when he lost control at a curve, entered the eastbound lane and collided with Cynthia’s Ford Focus at Fall Creek Estates Drive.  The Focus struck the eastbound guardrail and the Subaru ended up in a ditch. Investigators say the driver of an 18-wheeler pulling a flat bed tried to avoid the crash in front of him but was unable to avoid the Focus and ended up hitting the car’s passenger side. The impact caused the Focus to flip onto its passenger side.  Santiago and Cynthia died at the scene.   DPS says the driver of the Subaru has not been charged at this time, but that could change depending on the outcome of the completed investigation.

The preliminary investigation shows a gray 2007 Honda Civic was travelling northbound in the 7000 block of N. Lamar Blvd at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree along the east curb line of N. Lamar Blvd.  The driver was pronounced deceased on scene. Toxicology is pending to determine is intoxication was a factor in this incident.

The preliminary investigation shows a gray 2005 Acura TSX was travelling southbound in the 6800 block of N. IH-35 in the inside lane of traffic. A pedestrian was attempting to cross the highway eastbound, when she was struck by the Acura.  The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. Toxicology is pending to determine if intoxication was a factor in this incident.

The preliminary investigation shows that an unknown vehicle was northbound in the 10000 block of South IH-35 northbound proper when it struck a pedestrian who was on the roadway. The vehicle left the scene and Failed to Stop and Render Aid. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A crash was reported in the 18800 block of RM 1431 in Jonestown near Reed Parks Road around 8 a.m. Tuesday.   Jonestown police responded to the scene and found four vehicles were involved. Authorities pronounced a man in his 60s or 70s dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2012 white Peterbilt Tractor Truck was traveling eastbound in the 10000 block of East Highway 290 eastbound service road in the center lane, slowing down for the red light at the southbound SH 130 service road when a 2012 black Toyota Yaris failed to keep an assured clear distance, hitting the trailer in the back.  Gomez and Prophit were pronounced deceased on the scene. Toxicology is pending to determine if intoxication was a factor in this incident.

The preliminary investigation shows that a pedestrian was crossing the street at 800 Wagon Trail and fell down. A vehicle that had been passing stopped and tried to block the male with his vehicle. A silver 2001 Ford Explorer saw the car blocking the street and drove around it, unknowingly running over the downed pedestrian.  The pedestrian was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge where his condition worsened over the coming days. He died on November 17, 2016 at 5:05 p.m.

The preliminary investigation shows that a red 1997 Ford pickup was southbound in the 5300 block of North IH-35 when a pedestrian attempted to cross the highway. The driver of the Ford did not see the pedestrian until it was too late, and he struck him.  A blue 2011 Hyundai was behind the red Ford, had no time to react to the incident and he also struck the pedestrian.  Both drivers remained on scene. It was dark at the time of the crash.

PFLUGERVILLE — A 40s year old man in the crash between a motorcycle and a semi-truck was pinned beneath the semi-truck trailer around 6 a.m. Monday in the 18600 block of N Heatherwilde Blvd, near State Highway 45.  Pflugerville police say weather may have been a factor as it was fairly foggy at the time of the crash. Witnesses told police the 18-wheeler did not see the motorcycle as it turned off of a private road.   According to Ramirez, the truck driver was pulling out of a private driveway onto Heatherwilde Blvd. and the motorcyclist ran into the back of the truck. Ramirez says it’s more than just mother nature. He believes something needs to be done with this stretch of road during construction.

The preliminary investigation shows that a black Harley Davidson motorcycle was southbound in lane #2 of the 13700 block of South IH-35 southbound service road when it left the roadway to its right into the grass. It re-entered the roadway and went down, with the rider separating from the motorcycle. Because the driver was an organ donor, he was transported to Saint David’s South Austin Medical Center.  The driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was pronounced deceased November 12, 2016, at 8:38 p.m.

The preliminary investigation shows that a blue 2007 Hyundai was traveling southbound in the left lane of North Lamar at less than 45 mph due to wet roads. A pedestrian was attempting to cross North Lamar mid-block in the 8900 block of the roadway and was struck by the vehicle. The pedestrian was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. The driver was cited for not having a driver’s license or insurance

A man in his 30’s died Monday morning after a two-car crash on eastbound Highway 71. Austin-Travis County EMS says the crash happened around 3:15 a.m. on the 4900 block of 71 near Navarro Creek Road, near the Nland Surf Park. A Nissan Maxima was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when the driver collided with a Ford F-250. The Nissan driver died at the scene.  The crash is an estimated three miles east of State Highway 130. Officials say it was foggy at the time of the crash.

The preliminary investigation shows that a bicyclist was traveling westbound in the outside lane of the 5200 block of U.S. Highway 290 West service road. A 2010 white Dodge Charger was traveling in the same lane. The Charger hit the bicyclist from behind. At the time of the crash the roadway was dark and dimly lit.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers identified 31-year-old Michael Brent Holland of Liberty Hill as the man killed in a head-on collision in northwestern Travis County Saturday. Holland was driving westbound on FM 1431 near Vista Rock Drive around 10:30 a.m Saturday when he veered into the eastbound lanes and hit a mini van head-on.  The three passengers in the van — a man, woman and young boy — were taken to Round Rock Medical Center with critical injuries.  It is unclear what caused him to veer into oncoming traffic, Barrerra said.

AUSTIN – A man in his 30s has been killed in a crash on Loop 360, Tuesday night. Only one car was involved in the northbound crash, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. Medics, who were called to the scene at 7:15 p.m., say the crash happened in the 100 block of Capital of Texas Highway/Loop 360, just north of Bee Cave Road.  Thursday, the medical examiner’s office identified the victim as 28-year-old Elliott Duwain Whitis, of Austin.  The Travis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash and is assisting with traffic.

Travis County Traffic Fatality – Car vs. Culvert – (Wet Roadway)

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas  — A single rollover crash on the frontage road of Interstate 35 near Grand Avenue Parkway killed one person early Wednesday morning.  The Travis County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 2:35 a.m. on the northbound lanes of the frontage road. Initial information indicates the driver of a Pontiac Grand Am, identified as Sherry Ann Gauthier, 42, struck a culvert which caused the car to flip.  Austin-Travis County EMS said Gauthier died after being ejected from the vehicle. The Texas Department of Public Safety says the roads were wet when the crash happened.

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2001 Mazda Protege was southbound on Manchaca Rd. when it drifted into the northbound lane and struck a 2012 red Kia Sportage that was heading northbound in the inside lane head on. The collision with the Mazda Protege caused the Kia Sportage to spin and strike a 2005 gray Hyundai Sonata which was traveling northbound behind the Sportage. The driver of the Mazda Protege was pronounced deceased on scene. All other drivers and passengers were transported to the hospital by ambulance. Toxicology is pending to determine if impairment was a factor in this incident.

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2001 Honda Civic was eastbound in approximately the 1400 block of W. Koenig Lane.  A 2014 Mack garbage truck had backed into the street and was struck in the rear by the Civic. The driver of the Civic died at the scene.

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2007 Honda Civic was traveling southbound in the 2500 block of IH-35. The driver lost control and struck a guard rail on the west side of the roadway. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced deceased at the scene at 2:35 a.m.  Police believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.

The preliminary investigation shows that a white 2007 Ford 500SL, a brown 2012 Honda Accord and a black 2012 Toyota Highlander were stopped in Traffic on the W. U.S. Highway 290 to S. Mopac Expressway northbound ramp when a black 2013 Ford Expedition struck the Ford 500SL from behind. This initial crash caused a chain reaction with the other vehicles involved. The Driver of the Ford 500SL was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, where he later died as a result of his injuries on Saturday, October 15, 2016.

The preliminary investigation shows that a green Acura Legend was traveling northbound, at a high rate of speed, in the 5700 block of South Mopac Expressway. The driver failed to negotiate the exit ramp onto State Highway 71 East and struck a light pole along the east curb line. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Toxicology is pending to determine whether or not intoxication was a factor in this crash.

The preliminary investigation shows that a black 2010 Ford F-150 was traveling southbound in the 6700 block of Metropolis Dr. at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to negotiate a right curve in the road. The vehicle struck a guard rail and then a light pole along the east curb line. The driver, Gerardo Gonzalez, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Cedar Park Traffic Fatality – Motorcycle vs. Median (Speed)

A man was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon in Cedar Park, police said.  The crash happened at the corner of Anderson Mill Road and Zappa Drive about 3:50 p.m. Sunday. Police said that a man in his late 20s was on a white motorcycle going north on Anderson Mill Road at high speed and crashed into a rock on a grassy median.  Police said the man apparently wasn’t familiar with the motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The stretch of road where the man was killed has a posted speed limit of 45 mph. The road curves near the spot where the man crashed.

David Carnejo, 22, died after his vehicle collided with another around 2 a.m.,  said DPS.  A driver called 911 early Monday after a Chrysler 300 hit him on southbound U.S. 183, south of Texas 45, troopers could not find the Chrysler’s driver and assumed he had run away, a Department of Public Safety spokeswoman said.  But hours later, workers repairing a utility pole saw a man’s body lying in the tall grass nearby, and the deceased man’s family confirmed he had been driving a Chrysler 300 that night, said DPS.   The utility workers estimated that Carnejo’s body was about 40 feet from the pole, Barrera said.

The preliminary investigation shows that a green 2000 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Cameron Rd. and failed to negotiate a right curve in the road, drove into the center median, and struck a tree. The driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in this crash.

Austin Traffic Fatality #52C -Motorcycle vs Car  (Intoxication)

The preliminary investigation shows that a black 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a green 1997 GMC Yukon were southbound on Mopac in the #2 lane when the motorcycle struck the left side of the Yukon’s rear bumper from behind. The Harley slid toward the left side of the roadway, causing the Yukon to strike the guardrail. The driver of the Harley was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Due to the strong odor of alcohol that was emitting from the driver of the motorcycle, intoxication is suspected as a factor of this crash.

A man was killed when the car he was traveling in collided with a stalled tractor-trailer in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 in San Marcos early Wednesday morning.  According to San Marcos police, the tractor-trailer hit road debris around 2 a.m. that disabled the truck’s air brakes, causing the vehicle to stop in the right southbound lane of I-35 on the McCarty lane overpass.  Police said 30-year-old Eric Edwin of Cibolo was driving a black Lexus sedan when he collided with the trailer, sending debris into the other lanes.  A front-seat passenger in the sedan, 45-year-old Donald Eugene Wilson of San Marcos, died at the scene, police said.

The preliminary investigation shows that a white 2009 Chevrolet van was traveling westbound on Southwest Parkway turning left into a private drive. A black 2014 Triumph motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Southwest Parkway at the same time. The van turned left in front of the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to hit the van. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to South Austin Hospital where she died a short time later.
The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet and intoxication is not a factor in this crash.

The preliminary investigation shows that a white 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling northbound on S. 1st St. at St. Elmo with a green light.  A pedestrian was trying to cross the street and fell down twice. The driver of the Tahoe did not see the pedestrian until the last second. He tried to stop but wasn’t able to stop in time to avoid hitting the pedestrian. The driver remained at the scene and no charges are expected to be filed.   The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. It is possible the pedestrian was intoxicated and toxicology is pending to confirm.

The preliminary investigation shows a red 2013 Pontiac was stopped in the designated left turn lane on Boulder Lane at the intersection of FM 620. The light that controls the left turn alternately provides a solid green arrow (which gives that lane the right of way) and a solid green (on which you have to yield to north bound FM 620 vehicles). The Pontiac failed to yield right of way to northbound traffic. A witness account and the evidence observed at the scene are consistent with the Pontiac stopping (or slowing dramatically) in the intersection during the turning sequence. When it did so the white 2010 Chevrolet, which was traveling northbound on FM 620 in the right lane with a solid green light, struck the passenger side of the Pontiac, causing both vehicles to rotate before coming to a rest on the northeast corner of FM 620 and Boulder Lane.  The driver of the Pontiac who has been identified as Diego Coleman Lafranco (5-5-97), was transported to Round Rock Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and were the lone vehicle occupants.

The preliminary investigation shows that a white 2016 Toyota Corolla was driving southbound (Wrong Way on a One Way) on the northbound side of 2610 Capital of Texas Highway and struck a red 2012 Nissan Frontier Pickup, a northbound vehicle, head-on. Witnesses reported seeing the Toyota enter the northbound lanes of Capital of Texas Highway from the northbound exit ramp at the intersection of West Lake Boulevard.   The driver and lone occupant of the Toyota who has been identified as Pete Zachariah Steward died at the scene. The driver and lone occupant of the Nissan who has been identified as Michael Keith Kollman (12-19-60), was transported to South Austin Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Nissan succumbed to his injuries on September 11, 2016. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.   Toxicology is pending to determine if intoxication was a factor in this incident.

Two people on a motorcycle were killed late Sunday night in a crash in Williamson County, according to Texas DPS. The names of the people who died are Sebastian Sample, 24 of Leander and Kylee Caroline Platz-Panico, 22, of Magnolia.  The crash happened about 11 p.m. when the driver of a Land Rover pulled out of Escalera Parkway and into the path of the motorcycle on FM 2243. The motorcycle hit the front driver’s side of the Land Rover.

Burnet County Traffic Fatality – Car vs. Car

The Texas DPS has identified the woman and child killed in a crash involving four vehicles Saturday morning four miles north of Burnet. The driver of a 2003 Ford Expedition who was killed has been identified as Roselee Rodriguez, 26, from Fort Hood, according to DPS.  Six-year-old West Adair Jr., also from Fort Hood and a passenger in the Expedition, was also killed.  DPS officials said a 1998 Lexus was traveling north and went off the roadway to the right and over-corrected, striking a Dodge pickup towing a trailer around 9:25 a.m. Saturday. The collision forced the pickup into the southbound lane of traffic, causing it to collide into the Ford Expedition, DPS said. The Lexus continued traveling north off the roadway in the ditch and struck a 2009 Ford F150 that was exiting a private drive, officials said.

The preliminary investigation shows a black 2012 Chevy Cruze was facing southbound in the turn lane, attempting to turn left. A gold 2001 BMW motorcycle was northbound in the outside lane on Burnet Rd. The driver of the Cruze failed to yield right of way, making the left turn, and struck the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge. He died as a result of his injuries on September 4, 2016.   The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet and had a motorcycle endorsement.

Ana Prado faces charges since her license was first suspended after she was convicted for drunken driving in Williamson County in 2010, and, four years later, Prado was convicted of driving with a suspended license.  In June, about three months before the crash involving Abdul-Khaliq, her license was suspended again for failing to pay state fees, the affidavit said.  The motorcycle crash happened in North Austin near the intersection of Burnet and Ohlen roads. There, police say, Prado attempted to cut through a funeral procession, causing Abdul-Khaliq, who was riding his patrol motorcycle, to collide with her vehicle.

The driver of the Jeep was attempting to change lanes into the center lane, but before making the lane change, the right front of the Jeep struck the rear of the motorcycle.    The driver of the motorcycle was identified as Alexander Davsley (D.O.B. 1-3-87) and was pronounced deceased at the scene at 8:44 p.m. Davsley was wearing a helmet and had a motorcycle endorsement (license).

The preliminary investigation shows a 2008 silver Honda Accord was eastbound in the 2400 block of W. Anderson Ln. in the inside lane. A blue VW Tiguan was exiting a private driveway on the south curb line of Anderson Ln. and struck the Honda’s right front side with its left front. The Honda then traveled in an easterly direction and struck a wood utility pole on the south side of Anderson Ln.  There is a stop sign controlling traffic from the private drive onto W. Anderson Ln.  Both occupants of the Honda were transported to the University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital where the passenger succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased on August 26, 2016 at 9:03 a.m.

The preliminary investigation shows a black and white 2002 Chevrolet Malibu was driving westbound on W. William Cannon Dr. approaching the intersection at Bill Hughes Rd. with a green light controlling westbound traffic when it struck a pedestrian who was walking northbound in the crosswalk at that intersection. In doing so, the pedestrian was walking against/disregarding the pedestrian control light for the crosswalk. The victim was transported to South Austin Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and succumbed to those injuries on August 25, 2016.  The Malibu fled the scene after the crash, but was located a short time later. The driver of the suspect vehicle was identified as Jesus Juarez, Jr. (23 years of age). He was arrested and charged with Fail to Stop and Render Aid.  Toxicology is pending on the pedestrian.

The driver was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter.

The Ford Focus struck the side of the Garbage Truck which caused the Ford Focus to lose control striking the front of Tractor Trailer. Manor Police are searching for a suspect who hit and killed a teenager with their car early Wednesday morning, and then drove off.  Police in Manor are now investigating a hit-and-run that killed a 19-year-old pedestrian early Wednesday as a homicide.  Police don’t yet know the suspect’s identity but they said they’re looking for a black sedan, possibly a Cadillac or Dodge Challenger, with damage to the right window and door.  Investigators say at around 12:30 a.m. the driver hit 8-9 trash cans on Marie Lane in the Greenbury neighborhood of Manor in addition to hitting a 19-year-old black male, who later died. Manor police say the victim lived on Marie Lane, his identity will be released once all family members are notified.

A white 2013 Hyundai Veloster was traveling eastbound on Parmer Lane. The Honda turned in front of the Hyundai and was struck on the rear right door by the Hyundai. A five-year-old was seat belted in a booster seat in the back seat of the Honda on the far right side. The five-year-old was transported to Dell Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries where he died on Saturday, July 23, 2016.  There were no signs of intoxication for either driver.

An open alcoholic beverage was found in the vehicle. Speed and intoxication appear to be factors in this crash.

The driver of the Green Honda was transported to UMC Brackenridge Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  Alcohol is not suspected to be a contributing factor in this crash.

The pedestrian was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The pedestrian was not in the crosswalk.

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver 1999 Toyota Camry and a maroon 1996 Toyota 4-Runner were traveling northbound in the 2400 block of IH-35. It is believed that the driver of the 4-Runner was slowing for traffic when the driver of the Camry, traveling at a high rate of speed, rear-ended the 4-Runner, causing it to roll over.  Each vehicle had a driver and no other occupants. The driver of the Camry was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Celia Loza-Aviles, the driver of the 4-Runner, was transported to UMC Brackenridge and later died from her injuries.  Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash and criminal charges will be filed, investigation ongoing.

A 14-year-old male was crossing Spicewood Springs on Rustic Rock Drive with a flashing red light. The teenager was struck by the vehicle in the east bound lanes.  It has not been determined if the teenager was a pedestrian or a cyclist at the time of the crash. The teenager was transported to Round Rock Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.  The driver of the 4 Runner stayed on scene.

The front of the Chevrolet Malibu struck the left side of the Mazda Miata at the intersection of Braker Lane and Burnet Road. The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu and the driver and passenger of the Mazda Miata were transported to area hospitals. The passenger of the Mazda Miata was later pronounced deceased at the hospital due to injuries sustained from the crash.

This is both a prohibited and unsafe area for pedestrian traffic. The driver of the Dodge saw the pedestrian jogging across his lane and tried to stop but was unable to avoid striking the pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Chevrolet turned onto Cameron Rd. striking four-year-old Ethan Hernandez. Ethan was legally walking in the crosswalk with family members and had the right of way when he was hit by the truck. The driver of the Chevrolet fled the scene. Ethan was transported to Dell Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The preliminary investigation shows that a maroon 2004 Infiniti G35 was traveling northbound in the 9500 block of Dessau Rd. The driver of the Infiniti lost control of their vehicle crossing the center grassy, cement median going into oncoming southbound traffic. A white 1996 Ford Econoline 250 van was traveling southbound on Cameron Rd., in the inside lane, and was unable to avoid striking the Infiniti. The Ford’s front end struck the passenger side of the Infiniti.  The driver of the Infiniti, who has been identified as Faustino Torres-Mijes (D.O.B. 6-26-86) was pronounced deceased at the scene. It is believed that speed was a factor in this incident. Toxicology is pending to determine if intoxication was a factor as well

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2004 white Ford van was traveling southbound in the 7800 block of Gault Street. This portion of the roadway curves and there were vehicles parked on the west curb. A juvenile male pedestrian was in the roadway at the above location when he was struck by the van. There was no crosswalk in the immediate area. The juvenile pedestrian, Uriel Gutierrez, Hispanic male, D.O.B. 11-21-2010, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A man believed to be in his 30s was found dead next to a motorcycle just outside Austin’s city limits in northeast Travis County, Austin-Travis County EMS officials said. He was found on Springdale Road near Tuscany Way, Travis County sheriff’s officials said.  Department of Public Safety investigators say Ruben Garza, 34, of Manor, was travelling southbound on Springdale Road approaching Tuscany Way when he failed to negotiate a curb, struck the curb and went airborne.  Deputies responded at 6 a.m., shortly after they believe the motorcyclist crashed and died.

A woman in her 70s is dead after a crash involving two cars in northern Travis County, according to emergency personnel. Austin-Travis County EMS were at the scene of the fatality in the 1400 block of 3 Points Road, just south of Grand Avenue Parkway and east of Interstate 35. Paramedics said to expect road closures in the area. A second woman was injured in the crash, according to EMS. She was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center with injuries not considered to be life-threatening, EMS said.

TRAVIS COUNTY, TEXAS – Police in Manor  said the crash happened around 1:55 p.m. Sunday near U.S. 290 and Albert Voelker Road. Manor police said they believe a black Ford F-150 hydroplaned and rolled multiple times, landing on its roof.  The driver, 24-year-old Alfonso Lopez, and his father, 52-year-old Jose Lopez, died at the scene of the crash. Texas Department of Public Safety released a photo of Alfonso Lopez on Wednesday, but could not locate Jose Lopez’s record.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2004 black Ford F-150 was traveling northbound in the 3200 block of Burleson Road. This portion of the roadway curves and the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason, struck a utility pole and then a tree. The driver of the F-150 was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two passengers in the vehicle were transported to area hospitals.  The significant damage to the driver’s side door suggests that excessive speed was a factor in the crash.

Toxicology is pending to determine if impairment was a factor.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2007 Gold Toyota 4Runner car was driving northbound in the 100 North IH-35 northbound proper when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway. It appears that the pedestrian, James D. Palacios, Black male, D.O.B. 4-7-90, was crossing the high speed roadway from east to west, crossed two of three lanes of traffic and was struck in the inside lane. This area of the roadway is both an unsafe and unauthorized area for pedestrian traffic. The driver immediately stopped and waited on scene for police to arrive.   Palacios was pronounced deceased on scene. It is suspected that he used a nearby on ramp to enter the high speed roadway. Palacios was found to have marijuana in his possession. Toxicology is pending to determine if impairment was a factor.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2016 black Harley Davidson, Road Glide motorcycle was traveling southbound in the 1600 block of Royal Crest Drive when the driver lost control, struck the west curb and left the roadway, striking a wooden utility pole. The motorcycle then hit a 2012 white Honda Civic that was stopped legally on the side of the road with its hazard lights flashing.  The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Toxicology is pending to determine whether impairment was a factor in this crash.  He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but it was not strapped and secured.

This is an area of the roadway not approved for pedestrians to cross and is also fairly dark at this time of the morning. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. Toxicology is pending to determine whether impairment was a factor in this crash.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2004 black, Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound in the inside lane of Lake Creek Parkway. A 2013 black , Volkswagen Beetle carpulled out of a private drive westbound across Lake Creek Parkway and stopped in the inside northbound lane. The motorcycle driver struck the left side of the Volkswagen Beetle. The driver and passenger of the motorcycle and the driver of Volkswagen were transported to Round Rock Medical Center. The driver of the motorcycle died at the hospital as a result of his injuries from the crash. The motorcycle driver had a valid driver’s license but was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Toxicology is still pending from the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The driver of the motorcycle had a valid license and was wearing a helmet.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2009 grey Honda Motorcycle was traveling westbound in the 15500 block of Avery Ranch Boulevard when it left the roadway and struck a curb. The impact ejected the motorcycle rider and he struck a stone wall. The rider was not wearing a helmet, sustained head injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Speed does not appear to be a factor in this crash but the motorcycle rider had neither a motorcycle license nor a valid Texas Driver’s license. Toxicology is still pending from the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities have identified the man killed in a crash Saturday on FM 973 in eastern Travis County as Austin resident David Benitez, 30.  The crash that killed Benitez happened around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday in the 10000 block of FM 973 about 1 mile south of Manor, according to the Texas DPS.   Benitez was driving north in a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado when he went off the east side of the roadway, over-corrected and went into a side skid across both lanes of traffic before his vehicle collided with a tree in a ditch on the west side of the highway.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2010 blue Honda Civic was traveling eastbound on Edwards Hollow Run and attempted to go straight across Brodie Lane. The Honda Civic did not stop at the stop sign and struck a Black 2012 Dodge Journey. The Dodge Journey was traveling northbound on Brodie Lane when it was struck.   The driver of Dodge and the occupants were not injured. On March 31, 2016 the driver of the Honda died at Brackenridge Hospital as a result of injuries from the crash.

The preliminary investigation reveals that a blue 2003 Honda Civic was traveling southbound in the 5100 block of Ponciana Dr. when it left the roadway and struck a wooden utility pole, head on. The driver nor the passenger were not wearing their seatbelts. The passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver, Matias Junior Valle, White male, 20 years of age, was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter.

The preliminary investigation reveals that a pedestrian, Fabian Balderas-Cerritos, Hispanic male, D.O.B. 10-27-85, was in the main travel lanes of the 1100 block of South IH-35 northbound proper and was struck by numerous vehicles. Witness statements verified the fact that several vehicles tried to swerve and avoid an object in the roadway, later identified as the pedestrian. Witnesses stated that it is unknown which vehicle struck the pedestrian first and that all vehicles that were observed striking the pedestrian left the scene. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. Light rain was falling and the area was dark and is a high speed roadway not designed for pedestrian crossings.

Kyle Alan Malachowski, the driver, was pronounced deceased on scene.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2010 red Honda Civic was driving northbound in the 1100 block of North IH-35 service road when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian crossed the street mid-block, failing to use the crosswalk at either 11th or 12th street. At the time of the crash the area was dark with no street lights on at the time. The driver of the Civic immediately stopped and waited on scene for police to arrive.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2004 white Ford F250 truck was observed not slowing and running the red light, hitting a 2004 Blue Mercury Grand Marquis. The Grand Marquis was then pushed into a 2011 Blue Hyundia Elantra.  The driver of the Grand Marquis, Susan Hard, was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital with life-threatening injuries.  She died as a result of her injuries on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 3:15 p.m.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2014 black/red Suzuki motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed, northbound on FM 620 near Steiner Ranch Blvd. A Travis County Constable, in a marked patrol unit, activated his lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop on the motorcyclist. The driver of the motorcycle refused to stop and accelerated to a higher speed, turning eastbound onto FM 2222.  The Constable saw Driver of the motorcycle turned eastbound, but soon lost sight of the motorcyclist and thought he had turned off on a side road. The Constable turned off his lights and siren and continued east bound when he drove upon a crash involving the Suzuki motorcycle and a 2004 Grey Mercedes. The traffic eastbound in the 10,100 block of FM 2222 had come to a stop due to a serious crash that occurred earlier that evening near 2222 and Jester Blvd.  The driver of the motorcycle crashed into the rear end of the Mercedes.   Wakeman did not have a driver’s license and his identification card had been suspended for multiple previous violations.

Department of Public Safety officials have identified the man killed in a crash with a garbage truck in southeastern Travis County early Friday as Larry Allen Overall, 49.  Overall was driving west on FM 812 toward the tollway in a blue pickup shortly before 7 a.m. when he hit a garbage truck waiting to turn left onto Texas 130, department spokeswoman Robbie Barrera said. Troopers said they received 911 calls before the crash about a pickup driving recklessly and later tied the reports to Overall’s vehicle, Barrera said.

A 2006 blue and silver Yamaha motorcycle was traveling north bound in the inside lane of North U.S. Hwy. 183 Northbound service road and collided with pick up’s right side. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The motorcycle’s passenger was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle were wearing helmets. The driver of the pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. There were no signs of intoxication displayed by either party.

A woman was killed Saturday morning in a southeast Travis County head-on crash.  It happened at around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Hwy 183 and McKenzie Road, about four miles south of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.  Austin-Travis County EMS says two vehicles collided head-on.  Department of public safety investigators say Mary J. Tustin, 61, of Lockhart, was transported from the scene to University Medical Center Brakenridge where she died from her injuries.  Another person — identified only as a man in his 60s — was also transported to UMCB, but his current condition is unknown.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2003 Silver Land Rover was traveling northbound in the 6700 block Cooper Lane when the driver lost control, leaving the roadway and rolled into a tree.  The passenger of the Land Rover, identified as Lori Pollock White Female, D.O.B. 09/13/1983 was pronounced deceased, at 2:56 a.m., at the scene. The driver of the Land Rover was transported to the University Medical Center Brackenridge with non-life threatening injuries and was subsequently arrested for Intoxication Manslaughter.

The preliminary investigation shows that a black 2007 Lexus was in the turn lane at the traffic light facing northbound at Burleson Rd., waiting to turn westbound onto McKinney Falls Parkway.  The light was green, but the driver was yielding the right of way to oncoming traffic.  A truck was in the inside lane, at the intersection, southbound on Burleson.  The light turned green for the truck, he proceeded through the intersection. A black 2004 Harley Davidson Motorcycle was also southbound on Burleson approaching the truck. The driver of the motorcycle passed the truck on the left, entering the turn lane, striking the Lexus head on ejecting the driver off the motorcycle.  The driver was not wearing a helmet. The driver of the Lexus stayed at the scene and there was no indication of impairment.

A man in his 30s died in a four-vehicle crash near Circuit of the Americas on Sunday night, Austin-Travis County EMS officials said. Medics responded to the rollover collision at FM 812 near Peterson Road at 11:06 p.m., EMS officials said. Four other people were involved in the crash, though no one else was injured. The man died at the scene, EMS officials said.

The preliminary investigation shows that a Silver Oldsmobile Alero was traveling northbound in the 12300 Block of N. Lamar Blvd., when a pedestrian operating a motorized wheelchair entered his lane of traffic. The pedestrian was crossing the roadway where there was no crosswalk or intersection, and lighting was limited. The driver of the Silver Oldsmobile attempted to stop, but could not before striking the pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to Brackenridge Hospital with serious bodily injury. The driver stayed at the scene and there was no indication of impairment.  The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries 4 days later.

BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) — Two people are dead after a wrong way crash in Bastrop County on State Highway 71 and La Paz.  At 11 pm, a Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes and hit a Honda Odyssey, said DPS. Two people in the Explorer were also taken to the hospital for treatment including a 11 year old boy. The driver of the Honda and a passenger died at the scene.  A the third passenger, survived with serious injuries.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup was traveling westbound in the 4800 block of East Riverside Drive with a green light.  The pedestrian was walking south to north in the crosswalk against the signal when the pickup struck her. The pedestrian was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge . On January 17, 2016 the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The preliminary investigation has indicated that alcohol may have been ingested by the pedestrian; further investigation is required to determine if alcohol was actually a contributing factor.

AUSTIN – The driver of the jeep that crashed in South Austin on Tuesday evening, killing a Hays High School junior, has been charged with DWI, according to an arrest affidavit.  The Travis County Sheriff’s Office said John Ramirez, 28, was behind the wheel of the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee that flipped and burned in the 9800 block of Alice Mae Lane around 6 p.m. Tuesday.  It happened at around 6 p.m. near Southpark Meadow and Old San Antonio Road.  Joshua Otto, 16, was killed after the Jeep Ramirez was driving flipped and became engulfed in flames in an area typically used for off-roading.  Ramirez and two other juveniles were able to escape uninjured, but Otto was unable to get out. The officer at the scene said they could smell alcohol on Ramirez.  The affidavit said Ramirez initially told the arresting officer that he had not had any alcohol before the crash, but later stated he drank three Miller Lites.  Online records state Ramirez is in the Travis County Jail on $25,000 bond. Police told KVUE they are waiting on evidence before determining if he will face additional charges.

The preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2013 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling northbound in the 9700 block of Lake Creek Parkway. The Cruze struck a pedestrian in the northbound lane.   The pedestrian, who has been identified as Katherine Nora Snodgrass, was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.

January 5, 2016 — TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — DPS troopers are investigating a hit and run that left one man dead Monday night in the 14300 block of Sandifer Street in Eastern Travis County around 11:45 PM Monday night. The neighbor saw a dark pick-up truck driving away and a man on the ground.

Hartman said this happened in a residential neighborhood where the road is narrow and poorly lit. He said the pedestrian was also wearing dark clothing.  “This is the third hit and run case I have worked in the last three months. This is an extra reminder for people to slow down and be aware of your surroundings,” DPS Trooper Duane Hartman said.  Neighbors in the area say they woke up to police surrounding the streets.

January 4, 2016 – AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two people are dead after a motorcycle caught on fire after a crash in North Austin on Monday afternoon. Authorities say the crash happened just before 4 p.m. in the 4600 block of West Howard Lane, just west of MoPac.  Austin-Travis County EMS says the motorcyclist was involved in a crash with another vehicle and then the motorcycle caught on fire. Authorities say two people died in the crash but it’s not immediately clear if both individuals were on the motorcycle.

January 4, 2016 – BASTROP COUNTY (KXAN) — Authorities in Bastrop County are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed one person and injured a child near Smithville.   The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened just after 1 p.m. on State Highway 304 near Tiner Cutoff. Initial information indicates the crash involved two pick-up trucks and that a Chevy truck hauling a trailer t-boned a Dodge truck. The woman driving the Dodge truck died at the scene and a child inside the truck was transported to the hospital.  A trooper with the Department of Public Safety says the man who was driving the Chevy truck was arrested at the scene and will face an intoxication manslaughter charge.

January 5, 2016 – TAYLOR, Texas – (KVUE) — A 28-year-old pregnant woman died in a single-vehicle crash in Taylor on Sunday morning, and her unborn baby did not survive.  Taylor police said the crash occurred along the 3700 block of East Fourth Street around 9:45 a.m. Sunday. Police said a 2006 Ford Focus was traveling westbound on East Fourth when it left the road near the entrance of Taylor Equipment, striking a tractor.  The passenger, Raquel Herrera of Thrall and her unborn baby, died at the scene. The driver of the car, 27-year-old John Gonzales of Austin, was transported to Seton Medical Center Williamson. He has since been released.

January 3, 2016 – LLANO COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — One man is dead after a crash involving two vehicles early Sunday morning.  The man has been identified by police as 37-year-old Michael Lee Perry.  According to DPS they received a call of a crash at 3:11 a.m. Sunday on SH 29 East of Llano. When troopers arrived on scene they found a crash involving a Ford pick-up truck and a Nissan Sentra.  Police say the crash occurred after the Ford driver drove into oncoming traffic and collided with the Nissan. The front left panel of the Nissan driver’s door was taken off.  The driver of the Ford pick-up truck was injured and airlifted to a local hospital for treatment. The other driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

January 1, 2016 – Travis County – (American Statesman) — An 87-year-old woman and a 79-year-old man were killed after colliding with a 16-year-old driver who veered into oncoming traffic Friday evening on Texas 71 in western Travis County.  Madelyn Glasgow, 87, of Austin, and Paul Hagen, 79, of Buda, died at the scene, said trooper Robbie Barrera, spokeswoman for the Texas Department Public of Safety. Medics used a helicopter to take the teenager, Carson Smith, to University Medical Center Brackenridge. Police responded to the crash near a small road named Creek Meadow at 6:27 p.m., Barrera said.  Glasgow and Hagan were driving west on Texas 71, between Spicewood and Bee Cave, when Smith veered into their lane while he was driving east and hit them head-on,
