Alcohol Sales

New initial data from the Texas Comptroller’s Office shows that Austin-area liquor license holders sold roughly $65.9 million in liquor and mixed drinks in December.  Thats up from December 2014, when Austin-area bars sold about $59.9 million in liquor and mixed drinks. The typical Austin bar did well in December also. Median sales per liquor license rose to $29,604, a nearly 25 percent increase from December 2014, when median sales per liquor license stood at $23,717.

Topping the list of liquor sellers in the Austin area was the JW Marriott Hotel on Congress Ave, which pulled in an estimated $698,489 in liquor sales. Also note the surging appearance of Emo’s East, which rocketed to the No. 3 spot, pulling in an estimated $472,000 in liquor sales in December. In December 2014, Emo’s pulled in much less at around $148,600. In November, it only recorded an estimated $78,173 in liquor sales, so consider it noticed in December. No. 2 this month, DH Beverage LLC, represents the historic Driskill Hotel.
